About Snövix
The story of the Snövix Värma, the sculpted base layer snow sleeve, was born in the mountains of Colorado, many years ago when I was a ski bum. I loved exploring the winters high in the Rockies via backcountry skiing, ice climbing, snowshoeing or just about any other activity that came along. A friend from earlier ski bum days had noted that "there are no bad weather days, just poor clothing choices" and this lead to the growing annoyance at the snow falling in the glove/coat gap in deeper snow activities or even if it was just REALLY blustery and wintry out. Some fun mock-ups were made, but life was busy and they soon lived in a shoebox.
The shoebox came along for all the years and it wasn't until my daughter was stumbling around in the snow, falling over and very soon, crying from the snow that went up her glove/jacket, despite my efforts at overlapping them and tucking things in. Kids do that. At that moment I recalled my efforts many years before and that led to what you have here.
I wanted to make being outdoors in ALL winter weather more enjoyable by removing at least one annoyance that seemed easily avoided. Along the way I found that the sleeves also work great when working indoors in a ... less than warm office, or while doing some odd jobs around the house/yard outside and wanted some extra warmth for my hands. Anyone who's run a snowblower on a blustery day or worked outside in a blizzard can attest to the ability of blowing snow to get into all sort of places as well.
Currently based in the East Coast outdoor mecca of Burlington, Vermont, Snövix is committed to low impact retail by minimizing packaging and avoiding excessive packaging and plastics when possible, giving back to the environment and "keepin' it local." In a world filled with Chinese garment sweat shops, I'm very proud that the sleeves are cut & sewn right here in the USA as well.
So go outside and stay warm and focused on having fun, or getting the job done.
